Glad you ask that question! First I will list the references:

Colorado Rockies Area Supervisor
Clarence Johns @678-457-5910

N.Y. METS Area Supervisor
Quincy Boyd 815-609-8214

Detroit Tigers Area Scout
Jerome Cochran @ 985-707-8599

LA Angeles Regional Supervisor
Ronald Marigny @ 714-309-4750

Now, for as the Colleges since they attend free and can come on the field while the combine is going on to scout combine attendees you can expect all the local junior colleges and D I, D II, and D II colleges to have a strong showing as well. I can not give out the coaches names and numbers for the colleges that already registered to come until I get permission but you will start to hear about the Dallas Raw Skills Combines on the Radio, T.V. and News Paper starting next week in the Dallas area. We are also working on a guest appearance from a former Pro Player to discuss drills and offer advice to the combine attendees. As I get permission from the colleges I will post or you can listen for the news if you are in the Dallas area.

Using Raw Skills web site colleges across the country can log onto RawSkillsOnline.Com and search our database for the type of player they need. If they need a pitcher and search for such, then all pitchers that attended one of our combines would come up and their combine video will be streamed over the Internet. That way the coach can sit in their office and evaluate players.....hence increasing their recruiting area. Now they can recruit kids across the country and not be constrained to recruit just in their local area and now players can have opportunities to play in college anywhere in the country!

Take care, and look forward to seeing you there!

I'm new here - do any regulars know of this organization?

Right, that 's why we are NOT a Showcase....just like a football combine it's a baseball combine...we are just filming your combine results and inviting all colleges and pro scouts to watch.

Backround? Staff? References? References?

I posted the references on the previous reply....and all our staff either played pro ball or college. As I mentioned its not a showcase....you have to run the 60, hit and field...the cost is for having a professional film crew shoot the video.

Raw Skills,

I've been to your website and it looks like a start up organization. Is the Dallas event the very first one for you? Seems over-hyped and the $200 is a little steep for a showcase (combine?) with no proven track record.

What's over hyped?? It's a COMBINE..you run, hit and throw and the cost is to have a professional production crew film you. Its all about having your personal video streamed to anyone around the world NOT hoping people come to a showcase game. Once you attend a combine you can point coaches from anywhere to the site and tell them to watch you. $200 is not expensive to have a professional crew film you hitting, running, fielding, pitching and catching and have our video stored and streamed across the Internet for a YEAR. This is NOT a Showcase...try getting a professional video of your self done and sent to over 1700 colleges....yes it is a new company with an experienced management....its nly now that tecnology is feasible to make this happen on this scale so YES we ARE NEW AND CUTTING EDGE! We will continue to offer cutting edge technology to give our members optimal exposure.

Sorry if you feel different.....if you are around come to the combine and see...its free for spectators.

Kevin Ham is the Angels scout in the DFW area and Tim Grieve is the Tigers scout in the DFW/Houston area. Not familiar with the other two guys.

Since we deal with organizations and area supervisors/cross check supervisors the local scout will get notice from them once come in to a city for a combine. Scouts love the web site because they can not be every where, but if they can go on our site and see a kid run a 6.5 60 yard dash....they may sign someone they might have missed. The same goes for colleges.
Rawskills, good luck on your business venture and welcome to the site. This is a tough crowd and some of the people on this site feel like they have been wronged by a showcase operator.

I appreciate what your service is doing. I do have a question. I viewed the catcher video and was struck by the fact that the screen is very small and that i really could not see the footwork. The question is are these guys knowledgeable at filming for baseball? Being a professional photographer is one thing, knowing how to film a recruiting video is another.

Thanks.

GREAT QUESTION!! Yes, that is only a sample....the actual video will open into a big Windows Media Screen. That's the biggest advantage to our site...a coach can evaluate players footwork; pull out thier stop watch and time players themselves from the video.

Yes, that's only a sample of what will be seen....catchers will get timed throwing to second base and coaches will see the times on the screen as they throw down to second.

We are planning some announcements and adding some well known names to the team so we will announce at that time. I can tell you myself as others on the staff all played pro ball and/or college. We all know a lot of college coaches and pro scouts and all said this is something they could really use to help them recruit and scout. As you can imagine the smaller colleges love it since they do not have the big recruiting budgets and can find players across the country.

Great....PG is a good deal and we are looking to work with those guys. Raw Skills is really different...its apples and oranges....for us its not about getting people drafted but giving more players the opportunity to play in college somewhere...if you get drafted...great!

We are not going to say use us over anyone else....you want to go to a showcase, then the PG is want you may want.....you want to have your personal video streamed to coaches and scouts around the world then Raw Skills is what you may want.... you don't want either, then stay at home Smile

Everyone can make their own choice. I have nothing aginst a company being new. I do not believe that, in and of itself is not reason for criticism. If one chooses not to use this service, then that is their choice. Do your homework.

Reverchon Park is a great site and a very historic place.

Good luck and do it right.

What I'm saying is that the video is an aide to coaches and scout to help evaluate players...IF a college in LA need speed and they find a kid who run a 6.4 sec 60 yard dash on our web site, then that school can use their recruiting dollars wisely and go travel to see that kid play..say at a PG showcase or a high school game.

Yes, I know, I played at Long Beach State and was recruited by every big school on the west coast...was drafted out of high school by Seattle twice and by the Dodgers who I actually signed with...been ask to be a scout for a lot of years by different organizations but know the shortcomings and politics of that...so yes, I can look at a kid walk and tell you if he is an athtlete. This is not a sole source deal..that's why I said we work with people like the PG and Dallas Bat NOT against them!

We know what coaches and scouts want to see and capture that on film. I can look at a few swings and tell you what you can and can not hit....its all physics...what the body can and can't do in the position you are in.

Now that info along would normally cost you about $120 per hour Smile Don't get me started....I will have you doing Tee work as we exchange post! Smile

If you are in the Dallas area you will start hearing some press in the next couple of weeks and when school starts you will hear more.

Raw Skills,

Thank you for giving me the information on who will be at Dallas Combine. I have signed up for the Dallas Combine and think that it will be a good chance for me to show my skills to the pro scouts and college coaches that will be there. Will you keep updating the message board as pro scouts and colleges sign up to attend the combine?

Will Do! I know Kevin Ham (Angles Scout for Dallas, Houston and Louisiana) just signed up as someone mentioned him on an earlier post. This week some press releases will go out and when school start you should hear more in your area about the combines.
Raw Skills,

I saw on the website that I will be able to buy a copy of my personal video. Is there a limit to how many I can buy?

No, but since you get filmed at the combines it make sense just to get one if you want a personal DVD. Your video will be availible on the web for streaming.

Rawskills -- you're missing the point. You're here for one reason and one reason only -- to take advantage of free advertising. And the moderators have allowed it because it's something new and was generating discussion. But, technically, your post violates the purpose of the site (although I am not a moderator). I'm sure you are aware that there are 1001 different camps, training opportunities, and promotional "deals".

So, you've made your situation clear -- the moderators can leave it here....but the lame, ongoing attempts to sell it won't be welcome by all.

Good luck with your endeavor.

Rawskills,
Please see the pull out tab on the left of any message board page for a kink to "Advertise with us".
In Strengh & Conditioning Forum, Kerry Rosenbloom has had many websters use his service...

PG has a relationship with Skill Show.

Have you contacted Randy Byers at http://www.houston5a baseball.com?

Here, this may help...

I don't have a problem with him getting some customers here if it helps some kids. I also don't want it to become crazy. If it does, I will act. A simple reminder every now and then bumping the topic to the top every couple of days would be recommended. The exchange smells like a set up and staged. That is why the posters object. jmo

Thank You...will follow up!
I know nothing about Raw Skills one way or another. I support anything that consistently proves to be helpful for kids that want to play at the next level. I suppose this company will prove its worth, over time.

But...I don't think many college coaches sit around watching streaming video of potential players -- even the smaller schools. In my opinion, the key element in generating the interest of a college coach for 2nd and 3rd tier players is word-of-mouth recommendations from the high school and/or summer coach. People frequently ask here, "do coaches offer scholarships to players, sight-unseen?" To D1 schools, naaaa. To others, YES (as difficult as that is to believe). For this reason, a coach "guards" his recommendations, as he should, to protect his reputation as an evaluator of talent. I know, I know -- stop laughing -- and say what you will about hs coaches, but many (several reading this post) have the power of a strong recommendation.

Raw Skills -- good luck. Parents -- keep plugging away. Players -- work hard, play the game right, and don't let dad get in the way! Smile

-PD
