RBAWEST FULLY FUNDED TRAVEL SUMMER SHOWCASE TEAM!!

RBAWEST IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE WILL FOLLOW RBA SOUTH (Va. Cardinals) AND START THERE OWN FULLY FUNDED ELITE SHOWCASE TEAM FOR THIS SUMMER (2011). WE WILL BE SELECTING VIRGINIA'S TOP 18 PLAYERS (2012 AND UNDER). PLAYING IN 6 TOURNAMENTS INCLUDING WWBA EAST COBB IN ATLANTA GA. AND 5 OTHER TOP COLLEGE SHOWCASE TOURNAMENTS.

All players fees will be paid by RBAWEST- Tournaments, Coaches Fee, and Hotels. We will have 1-2 practices per week, along with our 2 facilities for our players to train. Recently, we have had over 20+ college scouts come to our practices alone! Donnie Phillips, with over 25 plus years of coaching in the Virginia Area, will be the head coach.

To answer many of the emails we have been getting please read the following:

This past fall we had a American and National Showcase team coached by Donnie Phillips and Andrew Slater. We had a very successful Fall program while having 3 players already verbally committing to D1 schools and many more to come over the winter! Both teams played in elite showcase tournaments 6 out of 7 weekends while taking one weekend off for players to make recruiting visits. We had pitchers practice every Tuesday night where we filmed and worked on mechanics. Every Wednesday night our American and National team would scrimmage at a local high school. We had 14 college coaches attend one of our practices/scrimmage workouts in September!

This upcoming summer we will have 1 Elite Fully Funded Showcase team coached by Donnie Phillips and also a second Showcase team coached by Andrew Slater.

What we offer with our 2 teams:

RBAWEST Elite Team- Donnie Phillips
1. Will have 18 of Virginia's top prospects
2. Tournaments (East Cobb and 5 others), Hotels, Coaches
Fees, Practices, Uniforms, Hats-All paid for by RBAWEST
3. 1-2 practices/scrimmages per week, other workouts indoors
4. Recruiting- our staff of 20+ coaches will help you with your
choices of colleges, make phone calls, emails and contact
coaches for you!
5. Videos- personal videos will be uploaded on our site for

Congrats to Chris Gerrity, Donnie Phillips, and the RBA West family.

I had a feeling that Rich Graham's Cardinals model would catch on quick. Didn't know it would be this quick though!

I truly think that this is the beginning of a paradigm switch that will benefit countless families moving forward. This could/should be the model from here on out.

Wonder who is next? Red Sox? Canes? Braves? Drillers? Stars? Mustangs?

This past fall during our Travel Season, we averaged 6-8 coaches at our practices/scrimmages on Wednesday nights at a local high school. This winter you will see the following coaches below at your practices working with your son to get him prepared for the High School/Summer travel season.

Thanks for the email and we do have spots available on both our Elite and American Showcase Teams. We are currently having players come to our practices (Wednesday nights at Deep Run or indoors at our 2 locations if it rains) and on weekends for the next few weeks. We continue to train twice a week over the winter months and will have players come then too. We are still looking for one more big RHP, one OF with Speed, and 1 possible SS if we dont lock in the one we want here soon to complete our Roster for our ELITE team as of right now. Players and Parents,
Many of you have asked on this forum about when our tryouts are for our ELITE, AMERICAN, and NATIONAL SHOWCASE teams for this upcoming Summer Season. We would like for everyone to continue to call or email RBAWEST office for times to workout infront of our staff. We are not having an official tryout, but offering individual or group workouts infront of our staff to see where your son fits best on what team.
For the past 2 weeks and for the next month or so we will continue to have these open workouts for anyone to attend that feels there son is a collegiate student athlete.
We also are running our 10 Week Winter Camps for all ages 6u-18u with Professional and Collegiate coaches training your son. Please go to www.RBAWEST.net for more info.

We are in 6 tournaments across the East Coast playing in 5 tournaments at different Colleges, and WWBA 17U East Cobb in Atlanta GA.

RBAWEST has paid and are registered in all of the tournaments above and are looking forward to the upcoming season. We will continue to workout 2 times a week during the months of December, January, and February at both our RBAWEST Locations (Staples Mill and Rockville). Yes, he used to coach legion for over the past 20 years and wanted to work with us last year, so we quickly hired him! He wanted to get into Showcase travel again (He used to help Coach Banks with the Tidewater Orioles back in the day after he coached at VCU). We asked him to do what he does best....contact college coaches and work with top players. He knows everyone and has tons of contacts and missed the travel part of baseball so he is loving it!

We have not made the team completely and are having tryouts on February 12th and 13th for our ELITE, AMERICAN, and NATIONAL Teams. Rosters will be posted then. RBAWEST TRYOUTS-FEB 12th and 13th

FOR: ELITE (FULLY FUNDED), AMERICAN and NATIONAL Showcase travel teams

Location- STEWARD SCHOOL

TIME- 2:30-4:30pm

Anyone that wants to attend needs to make sure you email Richmondbaseballwest@yahoo.com your name, phone number, position, Grad year/School. Bring cleats and tennis shoes, we will be indoors and outside. This is a free tryout and you will get your stats- (Home to First time, steal time, arm velocity infield and outfield, Bat speed and Pitchers velocity, catchers pop times).

What class of kids are you looking for?

Coach M., we will have Freshman to Juniors trying out for our teams (ELITE, AMERICAN, NATIONAL) for this summer. We practice during the week day so we are looking for players that are willing to travel to Richmond for those practices including playing in tournaments on weekends. Tryouts are Feb 12th and 13th from 2:30-4:30pm.

Saw them in scrimmage yesterday. Always hard to assess because the guys playing a lot may not be your typical starting lineup. But generally I thought they looked very deep in arms. There's talk they may not use Gardner much, preferring to keep him in CF, but I find that difficult to believe. He would likely be their most effective pitcher over the course of a season. Brooks was 86-87 yesterday and did not use his breaking ball much if at all. That's a solid pre-season outing. I liked the Boyle kid a lot. When you're tall, lanky, lefty and you can break off a deep curve ball, the world is full of opportunities. He also had some strong sinking action on his fastball, running 82-84. That's a # 1 guy on a lot of teams.

I think they have a long way to go offensively and defensively. They don't really run a 92-94 guy out there, so a strong team like Godwin would certainly not have to feel intimidated. (Not that they would.) Generally I'm hearing that this is a year for pitchers more so than hitters, that there is no dominant offensive club in the mold of, say, Manchester the past couple of years. It's going to be very competitive, more and more close and lower scoring games, fun stuff to watch.
