Let's say the 5th inning. Johnny is the starter and Frank pinch hits for him. Frank laces a single into the outfield but is slower than Christmas. After the play is over the offense wants to re-enter Johnny for Frank because he's faster. Ump doesn't let him and says that he can't re-enter until the offense goes back on defense.

I've never heard of this rule before in my life. When I was head coach I was always allowed to re-enter the starter no matter when. Other teams were allowed to re-enter the starter as well.

So is the guy last night wrong or did everyone else in the past get it wrong?
