Nolan Ryan's Pitcher's Bible has mixed reviews on Amazon's website.

Some say its too fundamental and doesn't really provide any insight into why his pitching was so great. Others say the insight WAS his work ethic and workout conditioning that made him a success.

Since the book has been around so long, I imagine many of you have read it. I know, I would likely enjoy the book.

Would you recommend this book to a 13 year old?
This 13 yr old multisport (Track, Baseball, swimming, socker) athlete is just starting to realize that proper preparation and conditioning can have an effect on the outcome of competition.

I'm wondering if this is the right book that teach both sound pitching fundamentals as well as "what it takes" to have success in competition. Again, he's a 13 yr old "A" student. Would this be recommended for that age and is the book a good one?

I don't feel that the book is intended for youth readers. I think it is more appropriate for parents of young (like yours) pitchers. Maybe when he's in his later teens he'd havethe attention span/wherewithal to comprehend it. It is definitely a good book to read and you'll get many good "take aways" that you can incorporate into his training and development. The best book on pitching that I have run across however, is Louisville Slugger's Complete Book of Pitching by Doug Meyers an Mark Gola. I highly suggest getting it and using it in his development.

If you can find this book, I suggest you publish it. Smile

Just sayin, there isn't a book out there that can give you "what it takes" to succeed.

Just keep workin' and learnin' from people that have been there!
