That's funny as I was thinking along the same lines last nite when I headed over to blockbuster to rent Friday Night Lights but unfortunately they were completely out of both the dvd and video.
TR -I agree. We saw the movie when it was in the theatre and I actually just bought it last night for my son for valentine's day.
The movie's excitement, passion, lessons and pressures cross over into any sport probably. I know they do baseball. There are the same kinds of parents, the same expectations, the same desires and dreams. I give it two thumbs up as well.
I have not seen the movie yet (although I definitely will) but the book was great. As a former Texas high school football player and the father of a Texas high school football player I can tell you that the book gives a very accurate picture of Texas high school football (and that ain't all good!).
Although I love baseball, I live for football just like most Texas men.
Yesterday my daughters gave it to me for a gift. "It's as good as a chick flick Mom". Then we all stayed in and watched it last night. (a rarity around here!) You guessed it- they had seen it at the movies, and Mom was the only one to stay up until midnight to see the end- while the sleeping beauties dozed on the couch! Lovely film!
