This was posted by infielddad in another thread and I thought it should stand out as a recruiting roadmap for players, and parents of players. This was from Coach Scannell from the D3 National Champions Trinity University, but in reality it could come from any of the top programs regardless of level. Definitely worth a read for those in the recruiting process. It shows why a player needs to cast a wide net as the top D3 programs are looking at 1,400-1,900 prospects to fill out a single recruiting class. It also shows that video, might peak interest, in the end a program will have to see you and you have to communicate with them and get out to the major tournaments if you want to be seen. It also show how the "intangibles" are so important for some coaches.
"For those who have so much enjoyed the Coastal run and "grinding," these words on college scouting and and recruiting from Coach Scannell ring familiar:
"The type of recruits we are drawn to are the gritty, “dirt bag” ball players. How hard does he play the game? Does he love the game? Does he run on and off the field? You can’t fake passion. A passionate baseball player stands out on the field and that is what we are looking for.""
