What software was the easiest (1st priority) to use that was good for pitchers/hitters??
I started working on my son's videos this year...and asked some questions here and got some great advice...I already had video editing experience, so my main concern was content:
Key things I learned - 1) Keep it short. I've put together three vids and have kept all three to 2:00 minutes or less. 2) focus on the pitcher (side angle and behind the plate are the main two angles. 3) Coaches don't want to see a "highlight" film. They are interested in mechanics...for side view, for example...just tripod the camera and focus on the pitcher...whether it was a strike or not doesn't matter that much...the behind the plate angle can give the coach some sense of pitch location and batter reaction. Edit out all of the unecessary stuff...windup, pitch, windup, pitch... 4) Keep in mind, the purpose of the video is to simply give the coach an idea if this is someone they want to take some time to go see live. I would imagine very few players would get signed just from their video. There's other "stuff", but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
I used Windows Movie Maker and Cyberlink PowerDirector...but everything can be done in MM. If you plan to upload to YouTube, save the video format at an .mpeg4 - it's the most perfereed format by YT.
What I did was actually create a channel for my son, which allows me to also post up to date academic and athletic information, as well as his summer schedule. Now, when he contacts a coach, he simply can include a link to his channel. The feedback has been very positive. I've got three videos on there now...more, however, is not necessarily better. I probably won't put anything else up until next year, unless I can get some good video of a BP session. Here's the link if you want to see what I did. Hope this helps and please feel free to ask questions.
