I have looked at the NJCAA site and the Juco regional sites for specific information concerning recruitment of High School baseball players to no avail. Does anyone know how to access this information ? My son who is in class of 2006 is receiving calls, mail and invites to open tryouts. I need to know what is allowed and what is not allowed. The NCAA rules seem quite clear but nothing about Juco's. noidea

First day any NJCAA baseball player going to college Fall 2006 can sign the Letter of Intent is around January 15th 2006

Ditto on what MontanaDad said about restrictions. I never did find any that pertained to us, I mean there were some about playing professionally, time away from school - like sitting out, but nothing on recruiting.

We really liked our AZ junior college experience. But be aware that if your calls are coming from California, most schools that play in CA are not in the NJCAA, but the COA

Someone, somewhere has the answer to my questions and I can't find them.My son has been invited to a JUCO open tryout,he is a Junior 06.
I contacted the regional JUCO athletic office they told me to ask the NCAA and our local High School athletic governing body. I have no idea why I would ask the NCAA about a JUCO matter. Can someone tell me if it is okay for my son to attend these open tryouts just to give these coaches a good look at him. The schools that have invited him are out of state. HELP !!!
give the school who is contacting you a call.

They may think he is a 05 my mistake.

There are no rules against you making the call to the college regardless of age and advise them that he is a class of 06. Gives you a great opportunity to have a reason to call the coach directly. Take advantage of the fact you have a great reason to call the coach directly with a question that was generated by him.
sunbkd,

There is nothing that would preclude your son from attending an open tryout at a JUCO, even though he is an 06. The NCAA regulations apply only to NCAA schools.

Now if you are looking for some sort of documentation of this fact, I'm afraid I can't help you. An open tryout is basically the same as a showcase (maybe a little more involved). Nothing wrong with your son attending a showcase.
