My son goes through batting gloves like they're disposable. Although none he's ever owned have been rugged enough to last as long as I expect them to, the Rawlings Workhorse are probably the most durable. They used to come in XXL, but I see Baseball Express now only has up to XL. It's been suggested to me to go to a welding supply company as they have tough gloves that come in colors, similar to a batting glove. Saw a big beefy kid once wearing brown leather work gloves at the plate. Seemed humorous at first, then we all agreed it wasn't a bad idea from a practical standpoint. My fashionable son wouldn't even consider that, however. Especially since I'm obviously willing to by a new pair of batting gloves every couple of months.
I'm thankful to say that my son got rid if his batting gloves in little league, and we haven't spent a dime on batting gloves since (nor elbow guards or shin guards).
Every year he comes from his winter sport and gets blisters in week one, and calluses in week two or three. Then he never has a problem for the rest of the season. I thought when he went to a wood bat league last year he would start wearing them, but he still likes to go with the bare hands.
Cutters, none better IMO. And, you can throw them into the washer when they are filthy! Pricey, though... but one pair lasted all pre-season and spring season. GED10DaD
Son has a pair of Rawlings from MVP for like $30 and so far they are holding up real well (used 4-5 games a week since early April). He likes them for metal bats but surprisingly preferred bare hands for the woodbat league last summer and fall...go figure!
