The brackets are pre-set by regions.

The tournament was suppose to be a five team tournament and Indian River would have had a bye. But because Maryland dropped out, the team that travels the furtherest, always plays the late game...so they drew Deep Creek because they are the host....

Right now, I would say Lynnhaven drew the best team......Indian River won a tournament and Greensboro, Lynnhaven, and Deep Creek did not.
Lynnhaven pitched Andy Berry in the first game. He pitched well, well enough to win. No run support. Greensboro pitched a young man who pitched on Thursday a full game. He stayed in one inning and one run then they brought in a lefty 1B who shut Lynnhaven down for six innings. Sorry no names.

In the second game the same lefty pitched 3 more inning for his 9 allowed by rule. No runs. Then they pitched the same right hander who started the first game of the day who allowed 3 runs for a 5 to 3 victory. The lefty allow no runs in 9 innings.

The only major offense by LBB was Frank Berry's two solo HR's. Ya gotta hit and score to win too! LBB pitched Ammaroso (sp?)for one inning and 3 runs with two out, then young Justin Smith out of FC for 2 runs. After that it was Sean Ray for 6 scoreless innings. No offense except for Barry.

A sad day in Mudville.

From my side view the lefty did not appear to be throwing real hard as say a Rameriz or Woods, but he had a nice FB with good change of speed, nice breaking pitch and CU. Unlike some, I can't judge the speed without a radar gun.

I asked Ducky Davis, who was behind the back stop, what this kid had because he put the stops to some very good hitters. He told me the lefties FB was moving both ways and he was hitting his spots. It also appeared to me that he was getting a generous outside call, which is good for any pitcher.

Ya gotta give him credit. He did the job.
I know I've asked before but can't remenber.

What is Palomino Ball? Is it for Seniors only? Do these kids play on any other summer teams that play for college scouts or in National Open Tourney's like WWBA?

Seems like these are some pretty good players from some of the names I'm seeing. Have they already got their college plans in place and just don't feel like traveling?

Generally speaking I don't know of any nationally competitive summer tidewater teams. Am i missing something. I know the TW Devil Rays and Whitesox play fall.

Trying to understand...thanks
Palomino Baseball is a league within the PONY Organization. The 15-18 year olds can play on the team.....The teams play in a league and then try to advance through tournaments to the World Series, just like you see with the Little League World Series.

Most of the time, the kids do have their college plans in place....however, I also allow my kids to do showcases (TEAM 1, USA BASEBALL, PERFECT GAME, COMMONWEALTH GAMES, ETC), because most of the time it does not interfere with tournaments.

Even playing in Palomino Tournaments, alot of college scouts and MLB Scouts are on hand......last year at the World Series in Puerto Rico...there were aleast one scout from
every MLB Team along with college scouts....

When we were in Greensboro last year, we had scouts from UNC, UNCG, Duke, Elon, ECU at our games.....so, if the kids are good, they get notice anytime they are playing baseball.

Looking for my son's glove. A coach from IR called our coach with the Wildcats GB. And siad they had found a lefty Trapize. It's my son's but he wrote the number down wrong. If you are the same could you e-mail me contact info so I can retreive the glove?

I thank whoever picked it up, and am sorry for the delay but we have been busy as all have with the JR Oly.
