Anyone have info on how the AAA regional tournaments are seeded and/or how the pairings are determined? I haven't been able to find that info online (yet).
I'm pretty sure it (regionals) rotates between the districts each year just like it does the states. For instance I'm pretty sure we'll play the commonwealth this year. The reson I say this is that other sports from Cardinal are playing them. That would leave Cedar Run playing Western Valley.
Northern Region (16 teams): First round Liberty 1 vs. Patriot 4 Liberty 2 v Pat 3 Lib 3 v Pat 2 Lib 4 v Pat 1 Concorde 1 v National 4 C 2 v N 3 C 3 v N 2 C 4 v N 1
It appears second round match ups are with opposite districts (meaning you would not face someone from your district until the semis....)
CORRECTION--on the WVD. Although Halifax won the regular season, the WVD send the tournament winner as the one seed. All Halifax did was to claim a spot in the NW Regional.
Sorry about that JT. I assumed each district handled it the same - regular season champ is the #1 seed. Thanks for the correction. Let us know how the WVD tourney goes.
If that coach from Halifax does his homework he'll realize that he'd better hold Jeffress to play Osbourn. Of course that presumes osbourn will win their first round game against the #2 from commonwealth. Osbourn can hit and if they face just an above average pitcher they will score alot of runs.
If they can't beat Osbourn they won't make states anyway. I'd take my chances against comm#2.
There will be alot of outstanding games this year in the Regionals at ODU. The Kellam/Menchville Game will be a great one to watch on paper.....especially if Kellam comes back with Ray and Menchville throws Waktins.
