Reliever coming back in to pitch

Here's the situation: Starting pitcher throws 3 innings. Reliever #1 throws the start of the 4th. Starting pitcher throws end of 4th. Reliever #2 starts inning 6 and gets shelled. Reliever #1 comes back to the mound.

I know the starting pitcher can re-enter. Can the Reliever #1 re-enter as well?

Did the starting pitcher and the relief pitcher stay in the lineup after they were removed from the mound?

Yes, they both stayed in th elineup and on the field. Sorry for the confusion.

Correct...do not re-enter the lineup but go back into pitch.

I am pretty sure that all the highly trained coaches and the umpires would have put a stop to this substitution if it was not a legal substitution. And Coach Zell and Coach Jones are both talented smart coaches who know and understand the roles.

I have the utmost respect for both coaches. That doesn't have any bearing on the umpires. It's a question to help me learn as well.

A pitcher may be pulled and returned once an inning. There is no limit on number of times in the game nor is there a restriction and starters or relievers.
