Do your players remove the original handle wrap?
Some leave the original. Some add tape on top of it. Some remove and add a thin layer of tape.
Any advantages or is it all just whatever the best feel is.

Mine always likes tape - but it must be covered in baseball dirt. Clean tape will not work!
It's all preference really. Some say that taking the original tape off makes the bat feel lighter however I don't think the difference would be that drastic.
Personally I like to take the original tape off, then tape all the way up the hand, and criss-cross tape on top of that because I prefer a thin handle.
