removing your helmet

What's the ruling on removing your helmet (offensive team), during a game? Does it apply while in live ball territory or just during a live ball?
Situation:
First inning, team 'A' has had a team warning about removing batting helmet during a live ball, while in LBT. Fourth inning, team 'A' player hits a homerun & removes his helmet while rounding the bases.
What's the proper ruling?

If the home run was hit over a fence then there would be no infraction. Warning and subsequent ejection applies only if the helmet is removed in live ball territory when the ball is live. When the ball passed over the fence it became "dead" so BR is not guilty of violating the rule.
