Given your geographical constraints, it would probably be beneficial to email the coaches and ask them if there are specific events that they plan to attend. You will probably find the coaches cooperative.
Lehigh is a great place for a kid to go to school and play great baseball. their program keeps improving with each year and its one of the best combinations of baseball and academics in the country. I'll be attending there next and playing, so keep looking into it!
My son just finished his freshman year at WPI. Great academics, but very tough. Three weeks before the season we got a new coach. His name is Mike Callahan. A graduate of Franklin Pierce and an awesome baseball coach. He brought a pitching coach with him. He won 6 more games than the year before and had the team in contention for the conference tournament championship. We finished 3rd behind MIT and Wheaton(ranked 7th in the nation).
I recommend the school and the program. Nine seniors graduated this year, although only 4 started. My son was the starting SS. Coach started 3 freshmen. He plays the best 9 regardless of what year they are in and you have to earn your spot every day and every game. Doesn't have a problem with physical errors but can't stand mental ones. You better know what you're doing out on the field.
Your best bet is to call the coach or coaches and find out where they will be this summer. Some of these schools have a week or 2 week summer camp or the coach participates in the local college camps.
Agreed TR. All great schools/choices. We have had some great battles against RPI in the past...real solid program. We have MIT on the schedule next year and Coach Barlow (formerly of Vassar College) and Chip Forrest (formerly of Stonehill) have done a great job building that program...looking forward to playing them.
Chris Shank, a graduate of my highschool/Franklin Pierce, is the pitching coach at WPI. He's a good guy and knows a lot about baseball. My cousin is also slated to attend Rensselear, so if you have any questions I can probably get some answers for you.
