I read on another site about repairing wooden bats by stretching the crack open as far as possible without causing further damage and then filling the crack with Elmer's wood glue. Immediately press and hold the crack closed with a carpenter's vice or something strong like that until it is completely dry. Then using it in a game. Is this legal and is this safe? My son has, on occasion when the crack was not that bad, taped wooden bats together and used it just to swing with at home, but never used it again in a game.

If this is okay, I will promptly proceed to kick myself hard, repeatedly, for all the cracked wooden bats that I have thrown away.
