My son's two year old Exogrid is beginning to lose the tape on its handle. How difficult is it to redo the tape correctly? I don't want to make it worse than it is.
Does anyone know of a local place around Dallas that can do it?
I agree with baseball13mom. My son takes the tape off his bats when it is new and puts tennis grip on.
However if he doesn't want to try that you can buy Louisville Slugger grips that are just like the one that came on the EXO at most sporting good stores. They are pretty simple to put on, the tape is tapered so it is easier to wrap at the correct angle. (Don't remove the old tape until you have the new tape in hand :-)
Not that big of a deal, I think. We just grab a roll of athletic tape and start wrapping just like you would a wood bat. Why do it diff for "aluminum?"
My son would always remove the grip on a new bat and replace it with some made up concoction of two pieces of athletic tape. He said it made for a better grip. So the answer is to find some ingenious 15 to 17 year old that does this. I'm sure some are still doing it.
Thanks to all for your suggestions. You can see the metal under the tape in several places and I mentioned that it looked like it was time to replace the grip. He looked at me like I was crazy and said it felt great the way it is.
He is hitting great this fall so it will stay that way until it is all gone or an umpire says something.
