My son is a junior and doesn't know yet where he wants to go to college. He does have a number one college and attends their camps, etc. and he does know he wants to go attend college on the east coast.

He is receiving numerous letters from college coaches (D1) inviting him to their camps. He has attend two camps this fall because he may be interested in attending and because these were "closed/invite only" camps limited to 30 players.

My question is do we respond to these letters? We certainly can not afford to attend all of these camps so we're not sure what to say in the letter. I'm thinking that we should respond in some way in case my son decides he would like to attend the college.

Another question is he has also received letters stating "we would like to begin recruiting you." We are going to respond to these letters and would like to find some sample letters to use as an outline.

Thank you for your help.

Bonnie,

My son is also a Jr and he is getting "come to our camp" emails almost daily. He does not respond to these emails.

He did send out a personal email to each coach individually addressed with his fall successes and that he would send them his HS schedule once it came out. I am going to PM you with this letter.

He has also sent short emails to the recruiting coach where he was more specifically invited to a camp. A simple "Thanks coach xyz I can't make it this weekend but keep me informed about your next camp and program should suffice.

Good luck.

BOF,

can you please pm me as well? I'd like to give an outline to my little brother who is currently a sophomore.

Thanks
Kt,

Take a look at the timeline here on this site first.

What I did with his first letter/email was to take the letter from this site and customized it to fit my son. Actually we both worked on it. Your brother does not need to send this out until the end of the season. I would add in his summer schedule so the coaches can tell what level of baseball he is playing and where.

The most important thing for him is to figure out where he might be interested in going to school and make a list of programs. Look at their websites and match this up with his academic needs/interests.

Make sure he is playing at a high level the year between his Soph and Jr season. I highly recommend the USA baseball 16U Championships in June as a way to gauge himself vs the other top kids in his age group and to start the process of "being seen'

Good luck.
