Richard Bland (in Petersburg) has sports teams this year for the first time in decades. Its basketball team, stocked with central Va players, is now ranked #1 in JuCo Div II nationally. I am pulling for them and hoping their swift success might encourage the founding of a baseball program, too. Lord knows this area could provide a loaded roster overnight. And maybe it would encourage some guys who may have struggled in high school to keep reaching for more educationally.

They could play at Petersburg Sports Complex, they wouldn't even need to build a facility.

They have an outstanding coach who was at Patrick Henry Cc for a while so he knows what he is doing at that level and has done the recruiting for it before. He is one intense dude. He is the AD too and whoever they get to run the baseball program will have to have the same type of personality probably. I think they are in the money gathering stage right now so it might be a while because they will not want to go in until they can go all in.
