Please post time, place and opponents for any games you know of.

The only one I know of thus far is that Franklin is playing at James River Monday at 2:00 p.m.

And I know that Patrick Henry's game is at Halifax.  But I'm hoping there are other games in town at different times.  I already miss the regional quarterfinal marathon days we had the past couple of years, when you could see 4 games one right after the other!

The Franklin County- James River game was a great one.  Franklin sophomore pitcher Nicholas Robertson had a no-hitter through 5 1/3 before Mitch Carmody dropped a double just fair to RF.  After two walks led to Robertson being pulled, the reliever got to a 3-2 count before Vinnie Pasquantino lined a grand slam to right.  James River escaped with a 4-2 win.  Very tough loss for Robertson, who showed a lot of poise for a sophomore in addition to capabilities.

Griffin Roberts threw a CG 8 hitter with 8 K's and no walks for the W.  Neither team made an error and I was left wondering how Franklin came in as the bottom seed because they played very well.  Entire game was done in less than 80 minutes!

Anyone else ever see anything like this?

Last night Midlo / Glen Allen pregame...

Both teams were throwing in the outfield down their perspective foul lines before the game. Time came for Midlo (home team) to take infield.

Coach started the ritual with the normal LF fungos and throws to 2B... as he came around to RF. Glen Allen continued to throw in RF, with 6 to 8 players directly between the IF and RF. Thinking that they would surely jog off once they realized what was up - I watched dumbfounded as they just stood their ground and continued to throw... and I mean they were spread from thr RF foul line to nearly CF!

Midlo coach was kinda nicely waiting. and I looked in the GA dugout to see the coaches just standing there not saying a word!! So Midlo classily just hit some soft fungos and adjusted... by the time the next wave of throws to 3rd came around; I guess some astute player had encouraged his team to get out of the way and let Midlo have the field. I can't imagine not telling my players to get the hell off the field when Midlo took the field to take infield. First thing that came to mind was Univ of Miami football in the 80s.

That is what we heard from the AD yesterday (time 5pm/place is Cosby due to higher seed).

If this should change I will post back.

I recall seeing that in Coach pitch rec league when my son was 5 years old.  Either it was intentional or they are clueless.  Let's hope they are just clueless otherwise it would be a horse*hit move.

Better to win the game than the warm up session.   Good for the Midlo team, and hopefully that clueless or bush league move motivated the boys a little bit in the game.

Steven Reimann pitched 6 (junior), and cory mccollum pitched the 7th....it was a great game...unfortunately a few errors led to the 2 unearned hanover runs, and midlo had a couple of scoring opportunities that got snuffed out.....talk of the game was a fake pickoff to 2nd base where the entire Hanover team won an Oscar for faking diving for the ball like it went into center field, yelling, etc...the midlo runner on 2nd took off and got tagged out because the pitcher never threw the ball.....both teams played well...great game to watch.

Reinman had pitched about 5 innings all year and came out and really pitched well. Midlo had its chances and didn't execute when they needed to execute. The hidden ball play didnt lose the game, a few midlo hitters taking strike 3 with RISP hurt more. Midlo outhit Hanover, but just didnt get it done with RISP.  I will say however that these two teams will be matched up well for the next few years. Each has young pitching and young position players that can play the game. Should be a great rivalry in the new district

Keewartson said he saw this move by Hanover at the Regionals 2 years ago!

Maybe Fenwaysouth can give better detail.....

I was hoping that Cosby would go deep in the pitching squad for this game, but no. Riley Wilson pitched very well until some fatigue set in very late in the game.  Mort (?) came in to close in the 6th I believe.

JR started with Irby, then Kurz, then Pasquintino came in in the 3rd, I believe, and finished.

Several good hits by Cosby right down the 3rd base line, and I remember several to CF that dropped for hits.

There was not much excitement in the game...routine plays, a good double play by JR to end an inning, but Cosby out-pitched and out-hit JR.

And, as par for this season, JR left runners on base in scoring position.

Keewartson said today that if JR should win on Monday, they could face Cosby yet again on Wednesday (that would be the 4th meeting this season).

Fenway, please report in for details.

Sounds good.  As for Cosby, Wilson pitched 6 2/3.   Mort pitch a 1/3....actually one awesome pitch to get a groundout with runners in scoring position to end the game.  Riley Wilson was mixing his pitches well and locating extremely well.  Wilson also had a couple hits.  JR only had a couple opportunities to score...I believe in the 1st, 5th and 7th innings.  Early in the game, Cosby hitters were barreling up the ball with hard line drives that were being caught by JR outfielders.  Cosby had many more opportunities to score but left guys on base, and I could tell the coaching staff was not pleased.   JR got out of the 1st or 2nd with a nice MIF doubleplay turn.  Cosby's runs were scored early in the game through an RBI double by Tyler Fitzgerald and sac flies by Jake Huggins and Matthew Pita.  I believe Austin Rash knocked in Fitzgerald as there was a play at the plate.  JR catcher was receiving the ball from left fielder about 10-12ft up the 3rd base/home plate line as Fitzgerald was trying to score.   There was contact.  Coach Shoe tried to argue the safe call at home, but he was just stalling to allow his next pitcher to warmup and eventually come in.

Sorry, that is all I remember on the Cosby side of things.  I'm not sure why the scores weren't in the paper.  That is really strange.  They are posting scores from other sports regionals.

keewart - Good luck Monday!
