Any insight into baseball at this school. School culture, etc. Academically they seem to rank well, not top but upper half. etc.
Thanks

I’m not sure how high you require for top schools. Richmond is ranked #22 for liberal arts colleges.

I'm not aware of many changes since this was posted. Full disclosure I live in Richmond.
Good luck!
We have some actual Spiders on here. right PTM!
Go Spiders!!! :-) I graduated 27 years ago so I'm sure things have changed quite a bit but my husband and I had a great experience. It's a strong small liberal arts school with easy access to the city of Richmond and well-regarded law and business schools on campus. Beautiful campus with a broad range of classes and majors. Husband knows the baseball coach pretty well (they tried to get him to play baseball in additional to basketball while he was there--would have never graduated if he had played two sports). I think a lot of people target it as the sweet spot (strong academics but not super elite, strong athletics but not super elite) but it is not quite as easy as they assume. Right now their roster is loaded with grad transfers but I assume things will open up in a year or two.
Just read the other thread and it is a great source. Can confirm that my degree is officially from Westhampton College and back in the day all the women's dorms were on one side of the lake and men's dorms on the other side. 3-5am there was the walk of fame and the walk of shame. Misogynistic, I know, but that's what it was called. Everything is integrated now. Kenny and I overlapped with Brian Jordan (MLB/NFL) and Sean Casey (MLB/MLB Network). Based on where all of our friends landed (Orthopedic Surgeon, State Senator, successful business owners, 2 NBA Coaches, on NBA ref, two Ministers...and this is just our roommates and teammates...) I'd say Richmond prepared us well.
Finally, from a baseball perspective Richmond, we think highly of the coach but cannot speak from a player's perspective. From a facilities standpoint Richmond is near the top of mid-majors, especially considering the size of the student body (small).
Thank you for all the info. Between the replies and the older thread, very helpful.
They do a lot of recruiting in our area so I was curious.

Pretty nice facilities. Like most mid-level D1 programs, Woodson has aggressively recruited "COVID seniors". I always appreciate his blunt talk. Some do not.

It's a great school and a competitive D1 program. As for the school, it's become very popular with Northeast families over the past few years. Big emphasis on business/finance. A smaller school, but a gorgeous campus and consistently competitive basketball program in particular. Similar in that sense to Davidson, but a bit larger. I know a few local kids from the area who love the baseball program and HC.
Looks like they cast a wide net.
On average he has 7 players from Virginia

2021 Roster
2020
The Spiders 2022 roster has 11 grad transfers- which is a lot. If they get an athletic scholarship, it's a great option otherwise I'd be careful since I don't see there being much opportunity for most newbies for a few years.
Take a careful look at all rosters, you'll see many players who have been at 3 + colleges during their eligibility period with many having done a post grad year or a year in Juco. Prepare your player to work harder than ever and be mentally prepared. Try to get them into a collegiate summer league before freshman year if it's a possibility.
The school has a large endowment that rivals the Ivys and the business school/ pre law programs are highly regarded. Gorgeous campus, good professors and a lot of support for athletes. It leans on the preppy side and there's decent Greek life. Good size school for it's kind. They just got a new pitching coach this year.
