I played against Kirby in Rookie ball in 1981. I knew at that time that he was a special player and that it wouldn't be long before he was in the big leagues. He was a great player and a great man. I think that he never could get over having to quit baseball before he wanted to. One of the best "smaller" guys to ever put on a uniform. Job well done, Kirby.
Who said there is no crying in baseball...... yesterday I shed several tears over this news......... cry

1991 I was living in Minnesota and 2 of the best things happened that year, 1. I had my 2nd son and 2. the Twins won the World Series.

During our 7 years of living in that cold, cold place I became a Kirby fan........a life cut short wayyyyyy to early.
