Spartan,
Good luck to your son. Now it's up to you and Junior to make sure that Illinois knows your son will be there so that he is on the list of potential recruits they want to look at.

Just going to a showcase is not assurance of exposure. The more you can do to develop the relationship before the recruiter scouts Junior, the more critical the evaluation will be.
Myself being a naive parent makes me ask this question.

I would like to introduce myself to all the college coaches at the showcase, but I do not want to come off as a "little league parent" or an annoying father. I feel it is important to meet and converse with the men who would possibly/potentially coach my son.

The question is, should I approach the coaches or should I just let my son introduce himself?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Spartan, I would agree with CPLZ on this, and recommend that you stay in the background.

I would add that the coaches at these events are working and they are trying to see a lot more kids than just your son. If they want to talk to you, they will find you and talk when it works for them. It could easily work against you if you happened to approach them at a time that they didn't want to talk to you. I recommend that you have fun, soak in the experience, and watch. Watch the players, watch the coaches watch the players, watch the players watch the coaches watching the players. It's an exciting time...enjoy it.
