D1 baseball prohibits any team with colors that ugly from participation.

Do you remember what Steve Garvey said when he put on his Padres uniform for the first time in spring training?

Look! I’m a taco!

It was right up there when asked to compare Yuma AZ to Vero Beach FL.

Lots of beach. Just no ocean.

Hahaha... how can a group of MLB marketing experts sit in a room and say "yeah, let's go with these colors!!  This is the best possible combination" ??

Of course, I have extensive experience in these things... I'm a Browns fan.

Too bad the team wasn’t founded by Paul Green or Paul Black.

Francis ... If you’re looking into the future programs that go D3 to D1 either get blown off the field for 50+ games the first few years or they load up with JuCo players.

Like Rutgers?

I'm going to assume thats a bad joke. Not even remotely similar and a little strange considering you were asking about how to contact college coaches earlier and you're already putting Big 10 schools beneath you.

It was a question, not a joke. I thought Rutgers recently became a D1. To be honest, I don't follow it close enough to know the why, when and how it went. That's why I asked.

Rutgers recently switched conferences. The Big East imploded. Rutgers became part of the AAC with some other former Big East teams and some new teams. When the Big Ten expanded their marketing reach reach Rutgers joined the Big Ten along with Maryland. Conferences used to be about geography. Now they’re about television and marketing reach.

They're in a P5 conference (Big 10). They just recently moved to the Big 10 from the Big East/AAC, which is probably what you're thinking of in terms of the move. Middle of the pack Big 10 team this year.

Apologize for the attack, but I thought you were familiar and making a joke. Having never been to a game I always thought it was bad baseball as well, but after a friend of mine's kid starting playing there I starting going to games and it is far from it.

They made that very clear when they started hosting the Big 10 Basketball tournament at MSG, even though the majority of that conference is based out of the midwest.

To their credit though, they have split the conference up into East/West to at least make it seem like it's geography based.

NJIT might be a better example. They transitioned from D3 to D2 from 1998-99, then D2 to D1 from 2006-10. In any case, I'd bet my house that Rowan won't transition to D1 before your son graduates college.
Edit: Rutgers main campus has been D1 for like forever.

The Stony Brook Patriots participated at the Division III level until 1995, when they moved up to Division II with the ultimate goal of soon reaching Division I. On June 3, 1997, President Shirley Kenny announced that the Seawolves' entire athletics program would play at the Division I level beginning during the 1999–00 season.

RJM,  seems in the past there has been a gradual transition strategy, but to your point Abilene Christian transition from D2 -> D1 in 2014

Year - # of jucos, conference rrec, overall record

2016-  12 ,          (8-21), (16-37)

2017 -  6,              (3-27), (13-43)

2018 - 22,            (5-25), (21-33)

2019 - 24,          (10-14), (23-23)
