Any help here would be much appreciated. I am looking for a website like this one for rowing. (couldnt possibly be as good, but close would be ok) Turns out my daughter is pretty good at rowing-got moved to varsity from jv after one race as a soph, and would like to look into rowing in college. I just dont know anything about it, and am not sure how to go about the recruiting process for a hs rower or how to get on the radar, like is there a Jupiter for rowing? HS coach while nice enough, doesnt seem to be too up on things outside of what he does, so im thinking that we might be on our own here. Ive been searching, but am having a hard time finding info, so any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I've worked with a number of rowers over the years, and it's all about the ERG time!

Crew for college is a fairly simple process, at least it is compared to baseball. But she should be with an 'elite' crew program in her region if possible, and working on her off season conditioning now.

She should look into attending the "Crash Bs" this winter to get on the radar of coaches if she is really good on a national scale. Otherwise wait a year and do Crash Bs in junior year.

Of course, as someone else stated, the college search should start with developing a target list for academic and other criteria.

Good luck!

Web site resources include:

www.Crash-B.com

Rowers should keep their Erg scores posted with www.USROWING.org
Thanks for the help everyone--turns out there are summer teams--go figure--and certain big event to go to also-so im hoping that the experience with bb will help as far as the basics like contacting coaches and whatnot, so we are not really going in blind i guess. Now i just gotta figure out what the rowing equivalent of throwing 94 is to make this as easy as possible!! And im still looking for the PG Rower site!
HighCheese,
I will try to find the link, but the NYTimes ran an article about how many high school students played each sport, how many played in college, and how many college scholarships there were. If I remember correctly for girls rowing there were the same number of scholarships as there were high school athletes. 1:1. Can't beat that! I will try to find the link and post here. I thought that was facinating since our school has a rowing team and a neighbor got a scholy at George Mason.
