James River and Va. Cardinals alum Kit Scheetz's fine recovery from TJ surgery is discussed: http://www.timesdispatch.com/s...b6-01bc40e20f6b.html
The VCU start was actually better for Scheetz than the article even indicates. He threw six shutout innings and left in the 7th with 1 in and 2 on; the IR's were let in by the bullpen.
The article does fall short in failing to identify Rich Graham (a HSBBW poster) as a co-owner of RBA South and also Kit's head coach while he was pursuing his collegiate opportunities with the Va. Cardinals.
Between Scheetz and UVA sophomore Nathan Kirby (also a Cardinals alum), James River had a great shot at a third AAA state title in 2012 and, IMHO, fell short only because of Scheetz's injury. Kirby dominated in the quarterfinal game, and would've been available for the title game, but James River came up short in the semifinal game. Had Scheetz been healthy, I think JR would've won out. But, such are the vagaries of baseball I suppose.
