Rundowns (1B)

not a rundown yet....but could be!

With runner on 3B especially with two outs (double steal situation) we would have our 1stB move towards 2B for quick tag on run down. Shorten the rundown distance.

Possibly just stay ready for anything. Will we be throwing thru to 2b, or cutting it off and going after the runner on 3rd? Whats the score, what inning? With a big lead we will go after the out at 2b. 2 outs, just like PG said. Behind by a couple, we need to stop the run. Behind by a lot, who cares, no really we just want outs when down by a lot. If there is no play at 2b I might want my 1b to head toward homes in the event of a rundown. But each situation calls for something different.

I always thought that there was nothing else for him to do. So why not do what PGStaff says and follow the runner (not too close off course). Only after the ball is by the hitter.

Because if we're not going after the runner to 2b, with less than 2 out, we may create a rundown on the 3b line and I would like the extra fielder backing up that play.
