Runner Interference

This just happened yesterday..............

Runners on First and Second, 1 out. Batter hits ball off pitchers leg, dribbles toward short, never leaving the grass. Runner is on straight line to third; SS begins moving forward to pick up carom, which is now at rest just short of infield dirt. Runner and SS collide. Ump calls runner out after play is finished, with everyone else safe. Does the ruling change because the ball caromed of a fieder?

I would have to see this one but it is possible for it to be interference. It is also possible it's nothing. If it is interference it shouldn't have been at the end of the play but dead at the point of infraction.
