Any suggestions for how to approach the following:
Son is 6' 5" pitcher with history of all star/travel baseball. Will be 17 in August and is entering senior year. However, he has not played HS baseball,(various reasons including move to NY), and is currently at a high school in Anaheim that does not have baseball. He's playing basketball and doing very well.

We recently spent some time with a former pitcher out of UCLA for an evaluation session. The feedback is that he has potential for D1 ball if he works at it. Right now he needs confidence that he can compete with guys who have continued to play, but at his size he has the mechanics and history that suggest he can do it. The suggestion is that he try to get on a travel team, with a view toward hooking up with a team at the JC level. Would welcome any suggestions or referrals that you might have. Thanks.

Since you're in Anaheim you might want to consider having him attend Mark Cresse's senior camp for a week. He's not likely to see anything special competition wise but he'll get good instruction and be exposed to some local coaches. They won't be D1 coaches but given the circumstances he's unlikely to be given a look by D1 coaches unless he's throwing in the 90s and would benefit from going to a JC first.

The other approach is to attend showcases to get the exposure. He also needs to be playing on a club or legion team to get experience.

Look under senior division on their menu.
My thought is to put together a skills tape and send out to many schools. College Coaches look for raw skill. If his talent can be seen on a skills video than there is a good chance he can hook up with a school. JUCO is a great option but not the only one in my opinion. I have seen many players play at the collegiate level without the benefit of a huge high school career or being heavily recruited
