I lost my Aunt Betty this past week and she was buried today. She was buried along with her Sister Wanda. They died within 24 hours of each other. When Aunt Betty died, Wanda remarked that she couldn't live without her sister. She didn't awakened from her sleep the next morning. We were close to both. My Aunt Betty had 2 kids who have grown up and have their families. During the Eulogy, the remark was made that she never had less than 3 kids in her home. I thought about that statement and it is correct. Even after her kids moved out, she was constantly taking in kids and helping the needy. She and my Uncle (Passed away last summer)had kids of every malady and misfortune stay with them. They were a fixture in their church and community. While wrapping up the eulogy, the Pastor remarked that she had helped so many people and touched so many lives. All this from a woman who dropped out of school to support her family as a child even helping to support her brother as he finished school. She didn't want others to suffer her misfortune. I am certain of this, her and her sister are in a place where she will be rewarded for symbolizing "WWJD."

This is a humbling story. We all get caught up in what we think is important and every once in a while find people who really know what is important. Is it ironic or fate or His plan that they past away so close....I think the answer is obvious.

I would gladly “take a knee” just to here the lessons they could teach us.

May the good Lord be with you my brother.
Coach,

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I've always felt that a death of a loved one is also their re-birth within ourselves. As we reflect on the good they represented we hopefully absorb those same values into our own lives. Physically they may be gone, but they live forever in our heart.
