I believe NMJC is in a rebuilding mode. After winning the 2005 NJCAA title, they lost Coach Birmingham to U 0f NM and then they lost their head coach again this past summer.

They were sanctioned with a double forfeit, after a brawl with Weatherford JC, in the Reg 5 tourney here in Lubbock. Then they were penalized by the NJCAA, for the 2009 season, with shortened fall and spring schedules.

I watched them play in the fall, at TTU, they were pretty good.

Your welcome, I hope it works out wherever it takes Pyroson.

Sometimes the right path is the one that seems to most unlikely. I have a mentor, who is a good man. He once told me, when I was trying to make a tough decision about a Police Chief's job, and the department was less than perfect.... "son, go where you are needed but not wanted... and leave when you are wanted and no longer needed".

Sometimes baseball is a life's lesson!

have not seen southwest in a couple of years but in the past they haven't had a real strong program. if i remember right their baseball field is off campus at a city park. i believe they have moved over to naia and play in the red river conference, which isn't bad at all. new mexico might rebound after their probation is over but will probably take a couple of years. most of their roster is from out of the region and the country. what year is your grandson? pm or e-mail me if you like.
