This may sound like a silly question but here it is: My son (2014) filled out about 6 or 7 recruiting questionaires from the individual schools that he's interested in. He just received his SAT scores from the 10/6 test date. He went to the schools web site to update the info but it appears you have to fill the entire thing out again. Should he email the coaches directly with his score, send in the form with his name and scores or complete the entire form again. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I don't mean to hijack seaver41's thread but was just coming to ask a question regarding ACT/SAT scores.

When registering for test you can put down '9999' for the NCAA clearing house. Is that where all schools can just go to verify scores? Will a school need/request scores be sent to them separate from having them there?

Thanks
Seaver41,

I would do both. I'd send the coach an email IF SAT score improvement was discussed in a face to face meeting or phone conversation with the coach. This can be legitimate big news depending on your recruiting situation with the coach & school. For example, it may matter alot more to academically oriented school.

When the time is right in (2014) you'll have your test scores sent-in as part of the Admisisons process. Most schools have a liason between academics and athletics. Your file will have already been updated with the SAT information. IMHO, I think it is better to go directly to the coach now to stay in front of him.

Good luck.
Definitely send email or contact the coach by phone. Son went through this after his last SAT test results arrived. His score went up 70-80 points but enough of a jump that it opened up an option that was previously border line academically. He let coaches know via email and the talks got real serious at that point esp. with schools that had been in prior contact. It also seemed as though the schools that had legit interest would email back with "great Job" "congrats great score" etc. As opposed to the schools that were not as interested did not respond or were less quick to do so.

So, by reaching out direct to the coach you can get a better idea if this is a school that is following your son very closely(by their response) or perhaps a school that simply has him on a list yet not a high priority(by their lack of response).

Best of Luck
