Colleyville 8
Keller 5

WP Deleo
LP Cooper

After Keller put up 5 in the top of the first, they just couldn't score another run.

Colleyville has a great team and hopefully will go far.

Keller had a great year. Lots of great young men on that team, not only baseball wise, but human being wise.

It's tough to watch the last game of the year, but I'm proud of each and every young man on that team.

I will say this, I am not saying the umpires cost Keller the game. Nor will I say it cost Colleyville yesterdays game. But in all three games, both teams saw terrible officiating. Today, the first base ump called a Colleyville runner out when he was clearly over a step past the bag. They did the same for a Keller batter yesterday.

The strike zone in all three games floated all over the place. Horrible. If this is what UIL considers their best umpires for the playoffs, somebody needs to lose their job.

Game 3-
WF Rider 4, Azle 3
WP-Sean McCulloch, LP-Cherry
Interesting strategy by Coach Anderson of Azle. Gaskey starts with Cherry in RF. Gaskey gets in trouble and he is replaced with Cherry. Gaskey stays in OF. Brings Gaskey back in 5th inning and then back to Cherry in 6th & 7th. I've seen the starter switched once, but this is the first time I have seen him switched twice. Rider will take on winner of Canyon Randell/Andrews game 3.

Just wanted to tip my hat to the Colleyville Panthers and say congrats on moving on. Even though Keller jumped out on top by 5 in the 1st inning, they never gave up and kept swinging the bats. The Panthers are a solid team and will continue to represent 5-5A well.

Good luck in the next round.

Not to be too nostalgic here but I'd like to second KD's comments about the Keller Indians. It has been the Medlins' priviledge to have been associated with the Keller High School baseball program the last 4 years. It's a great group of young men, a great coaching staff and an awesome group of parents. For those who will be back at Keller, best of luck next year.

We will REALLY miss all the high school fun. For those of you who still have more years of HS ball left, enjoy EVERY minute. It goes by WAY TOO FAST.
Smithson Valley H.S. of San Antonio lost their 2nd consecutive game vs. Moody H.S. of Corpus Christi. Each game was lost by 1 run. Not sure who Moody will play next. San Antonio Reagan won its series vs. Corpus Christi Ray 2 games to 1 and will face Laredo United this next week. Uvalde H.S. won its series vs. New Braunfels Canyon and will face Corpus Christi Calallen next week.

The UIL website shows Moody as playing Harlingen South in the next round.

KD,
Your Post was quite moving. Giving your players props was emotional, BUT, using the umpires for an excuse for the loses of either team, especially Keller's loses is ridiculous. The umpires wern't great, but they wern't necessarily terrible...

What's with the hostility, did your son get robbed of one those "rips" I always see him getting.

And by the way.... poor showing by Keller in game 3, in terms of fan support. Many of the parents that I talked to were surprised that there were not more students at the game. Game two was intense with both fans yelling back and forth and for only about 15 students to show up in game three was unfortunate.

This is Colleyvilles fans ole

This is Kellers noidea

Quick Draw, where did I blame either loss on the umpires? I clearly stated both teams got horrible officiating, maybe you need to take a reading comprehension class. And if you didn't think the umps were terrible, you haven't seen good umpiring.

And as far as fans go, yes, Keller didn't have a lot of student support. I blame a lot of that on Graduation being today, and lots of kids had family in town for the ceremony and had to miss the game. Also, a lot of kids made the trip to go watch the Keller girls in Abiline who are on their way to another State Title.

And, if your comment was supposed to be a slam at my kid, come say it to my face, I'll be around all summer.

Dang, these things can get nasty real quick. I'm going to have to backup KD just because I was a personal witness to horrible umping the entire year. Keller had a great year, and a good run. I know some CH kids and they had nothing but good things to say about the team. In a way, I'm wishing Keller could've pulled it out... missing a summer team player. OK, back to the point. This should be about the kids, who fought hard to win. And sure fans would be nice, but they don't make it or break it. Or maybe I got use to not having fans at my game?
