I was in the eye doctor's waiting room today and was reading a magazine (the only time I get to read a magazine!). I don't even remember what magazine it was, but there was a small article about a breast cancer awareness/fund raising t-shirt. The magazine only showed a photo of a t-shirt (with two baseballs in the appropriate places and the Save 2nd Base logo in the middle). I wouldn't have the guts to wear that particular shirt outside of a "walk". If I ever thought about wearing it to a baseball field, my male family members would absolutely disown me.

I went to the website for the t-shirt and they have more "demure" versions and shirts with collars.

It is a solid double hit for those who love baseball and support the fight against breast cancer.

I've seen discussions on this site for fun baseball items. I think that this one is fun and meaningful.

I'm not trying to get anyone to buy anything, I just thought it might be fun to talk about here. Remember "second base" from your youth?

I've been around the bases a few times, myself, and I can say that between feeding babies, gravity, wieght gain/loss, a lump removal (benign!!), and a few years on the books,"second base" is even more beautiful and meaningful than it was when I was a teenager.

Hope this makes you smile and remember your favorite base runner.
