Not to say this hasn't happened before, but it certainly is the first time I have ever seen it.

2 outs. Runner on second. 0-2 pitch. For some reason, runner takes off. Batter swings and misses. But the catcher drops the ball, leaks a few feet to his left. Picks up the ball, fires to third, runner going to third tagged out to end the inning.

How do you score it?

thanks for the quick replies.
Now I will tell you how I scored it and one possible alterntive.
How I scored it:

KdE2, Caught stealing 2-5.
WHY? I was under the impression that on a dropped 3rd strike, there had to be some "resolution" (i.e. Kd2u, Kd2-3, Kd passed ball, wild pitch). COMMENTS? Now that I write this, I guess I COULD have scored it KdPB, CS 2-5. (FYI....it was definitely NOT a wild pitch)

Alternative, and I have never seen a scoring like this either...... KdFC, CS 2-5, reasoning is that the catcher once it was a dropped 3rd strike he had a choice of throwing to 3rd to get the base stealer OR thrown to 1B to get the batter-runner out. COMMENTS?

This is not an error situation unless he throws the ball away. If the catcher dropped the ball that is a potential passed ball and not an error. However it isn't scored officially as a passed ball, either, unless a runner successfully advances.

Batter gets a K, reaches first on an FC. Runner out, CS 2-5. No E, no PB. Pitcher gets credit for the K but catcher does not get the putout as he would've had he held the pitch. Catcher gets an assist, PO credited to 3B.
