Salem beat Deep Creek...the score was around 6-2. Both teams used numerous pitchers (oviously...this was a 10 inning scrimmage!) Both teams looked pretty sharp for the first game of the season!
I dont know i his name but number 3 for deep creek..the short stop had a strong day at the plate..he hit the ball well and hard all over the field
Chris "Moose" Calquhoun for Salem also had a nice day at the plate..although he didnt get on many times he was hitting line drives everywhere!

Here come those under-estimated Sundevils again!!!!!
Sundevil,
Yeh, Creek's SS (Justin "Juice" Hess)is a good player. He will be joining Kellam's David Lottman OF at VMI next season. I'd expect you'll be seeing alot from Juice this year.
I don't under estimate Salem this year, ya'll have a good and supportive coaching staff (its like having 10 guys on the field). I believe ya'll will be providing a few upsets this year and expect that in a year or two be in the running at the beach. Good Luck.
Sting,
Thank you...we hope to provide more than a few upsets this year...all starting with kempsville opening day.........I hear that David lottman got hurt over the weekend..have you heard anything about that? im hopin hes ok cuz i have been to a few showcases with him and hes a really good player

Indian River,
Yes i know we are coming to play yall weds...it will prolly be a good game....we will see who comes out on top...good luck to you and your team! see you weds

yes...deep creek did have some pretty tight pitching...i particularly remember a guy having a very nice splitter...fooled me...ONCE...and to answer your other question...yes they are a pretty good team........are they amazing...no but a team that will put up a fight...YES

Good luck in your scrimmage against them

and good luck to kempsville tomorrow..hope to hear some updates tomorrow evening!
Sundevil,
Yeh, Lottman got hurt on Sat, will be out a couple of weeks, he may almost be ready during season opener next week on Firday.
Kempsville walked all over team from NC on Tue. I think score was 15 or higher to 1. Would have been more, but they had a 5 run per inning rule. Kemps hit ball well and played well. I think the NC team was a little overwhelmed. NC team had poor pitching, poor fielding and could not get the bat on the ball. I think Rameriz fanned 8 of 9.

-Salem Beat Indian River yesterday 5-3....the game was all about base-runners.
-Chris Colquhoun started on the mound for Salem and threw well...and was followed up by some consistantly tough pitching by many different pitchers on the Sundevil squad
-After Indian River loaded the bases by intentionally walking the hitter to keep the double play in order, Stewart Smoked a bases loaded double over the left fielders head to score 2 which ened up being the difference in the game

score was 5 to 4 and the pitching of indian river also did well and the kid num 10 i believe was a soldier to still play after taking a baseball off his head and about deep creek they have a really good pitcher a tall lefty weezner or somthing like that anytime he pitches expect them to win or atleast be in the game their supporting is also fairly decent
Kempsville tops Churchland 12-5 in 9 innings.
Kemps scored first in 1st inning on a balk. The Chiefs never trailed and led by as much as 7. Although held to just 7 or 8 hits, Kemps combined key RBI doubles by B. Lee(2B), T. Rowe(C), N. Rameriz(LF), A. Burchette(LF) and B. Henson(1B) with a few walks, a couple of errors and small ball to score 12.
Kemps pitchers (Little/Murphey) held Churchland to 0 runs, 1 hit thru the first 6 innngs.
Kemps wraps up their pre-season at 2-0.

Good Luck to all the Beach District teams during next weeks openers. The weather should be great.
