Scoring?

This is actually a scoring question.

Batter has 2 strikes. Ball it pitched and batter's bat strikes the catcher's mit during the swing. Batter is awared first base.

Is the pitcher given a strike out in his stats? I say no, but a friend thinks the picther gets the "K".

I believe the batter reaches base on E2, but I don't think the batter is charged with an AB, therefore no strikeout.
