scoring question

player on third batter hits hard groundball to pitcher, runner tries to score and is successful gets in a pickle hook slides home safe. Is this considered an infield single, error, what is it? I thought fielder's choice but no out. thanks for help

If in the official scorer's opinion the batter would have been out at first had the pitcher elected to throw there, fielder's choice regardless wether the decision to throw home resulted in an out or not.
"Statistics and Scorekeeping" forum addresses many questions similar to this.

Wayne's right and no RBI awarded on this play since it sounds like he would have been out on the original play at the plate had he not gotten into a pickle.
