Runner on first base, starts to steal, batter hits ball to second base. Second baseman throws ball to second runner is safe and batter is also safe. How do I score the batter? Some said FC but I thought an out had to be made. I am not sure.

FIELDER'S CHOICE is the act of a fielder who handles a fair grounder and, instead of throwing to first base to put out the batter runner, throws to another base in an attempt to put out a preceding runner.

So the batter reached first base on a fielder's choice and no out was acheived...only an attempt at an out was made at second base to get the lead runner...the attempt was unsuccessful...is that how it is recorded WillieBoBo?

FC if the scorer judges that the batter could have been thrown out at first if the attempt had been made there.

Doesn't an FC require a runner to be out, and the fielder "chose" not to get the batter?

WB is correct, no it does not require an out.
