Scoring question

If a runner is out trying to stretch, he gets credit for the last base safely reached. Dropping a throw that should have resulted in an out is an error.

Technically, this would be a single, reached second on error.

Most often, it will go in the books as a double, however.

Bang-bang play usually scored a double.

If the guy catches the ball,has a wait for the runner to arrive, then drops it or has it kicked loose in the act of tagging, better scored as single + error.

In this instance the 2B caught the ball cleanly and spun to make the tag. The ball was knocked out of his glove when he made contact with the batter/runner (nothing intentional by the batter/runner). In my judgment I think the batter would probably (not definitely) have been called out had the 2B held onto the ball. So I guess I should chalk that up as a single plus an error.

If he had to "spin" (i.e., move quickly) to tag and you're still not sure if it would've gotten the out even if he'd held on, it's usually scored a double.
