Runners on 2nd and 3rd base. Runner from third breaks on a suicide squeeze that is a perfect bunt in no man's land. Run scores. Attempt to get batter at first but he is safe on a clean bunt hit. One of those bunts where it was in between the fielders and no one was sure who to field the ball and who was to cover first.

Fielders have their backs to the plate and are kind of looking at each other to discuss what they should have done. Runner from second was sent and the fielders throw late to the plate, but there was no play as the runner scored well before the ball arrived.

I scored it a bunt hit with an RBI and nothing on the second run scored. I kind of felt it was like getting a single and advancing to second base on a throw home. So, I didn't give a second RBI and I didn't award an error for the fielders failing to throw home immediately.

As the inning was over, the announcer noted one error. So, I'm guessing they scored the lapse as an error. However, the third base coach sent the runner from second on home as the fielders converged toward 1st base. Coach had sent the runner before the slight lapse by the fielders so it would have been bang bang had they thrown home immediately.

And just as a follow-up, in a Legion game ysterday...opponents put on a suicide squeeze in 2nd inning, kid laid down a beauty, and pitcher threw it past 2d baseman covering bag at 1st. I thought they had a shot at home BTW.

Two runs scored on throwing error.

Bunting is an art. Too many players and teams don't do it enough.
