Noticing on social media of a bunch of organizations promoting their upcoming scout days in December and January. Is this a response from D1 coaches not being able to go out and recruit so they are having some type of scout day that can be broadcasted? Or is it because pro scouts are in a lull right now and have time to attend these?  Just trying to figure out why December and January? It seems as though you would want your players to be at peak levels for a scout day. So maybe a time right after high school season or even a weekend during the summer. Seems like having players come out when maybe they have taken time off, or are making swing changes, mechanic changes, etc., may not be the best time to show.

I agree with @TerribleBPthrower that it's all about the Benjamins for the orgs who are putting these on, but that doesn't mean a player can't pull some value out of them as well.  Yes, the orgs will always be the biggest winners with these, but we're still under the thumb of Covid and orgs like the NCAA, NJCAA, etc and the decisions they've made.  So I'd argue that good opportunities are few and far right now and will be for a while to come.  "Regular" people still won't have their shot at a vaccine until May/June-ish.  If I had an uncommitted 2021 or 2022 kid and the financial means to make it happen, I wouldn't sleep on many opportunities that actually are available at this time.  Some value can still be extracted from low value events.
