Two things...

The WWBA 18U is the second most scouted event in the summer. Second only to the 17U. Over 500 scouts and college coaches attend the 18U every year. Pretty much every ACC, SEC, and other top conferences attend both, several even stay for the 16U. Other conferences like the IVY are also represented at both tournaments. There are many of the top juniors that play in the 18U. Not all of them end up playing in the 17U. The 18U has many players who were drafted but unsigned from the June draft.

There certainly are a lot of Pro Scouts there, including several of the 30 MLB Scouting Directors and many crosscheckers. In fact, there have been Major League teams that have placed entire teams in the 18U. These teams are primarily made up of unsigned Draft Picks from June. There are MLB clubs that send as many as 15-20 scouts to both the 18U and 17U.
I don't know that you can go wrong with either of the events. You will still see more schools at even the 18U event, with regards to a single tournament, than you will at any other event in the country (except for the 17U as PG stated). The scouts will be there. Doesn't mean that every kid will be seen or sign with someone but your chances of playing in front of scouts is pretty darn good.
David is your son playing on an 18U team or 17U team? I ask this for because if your son is a junior right now he should be playing with a 17U team and an organization that is sending their team to both 17U WWBA and 17U BCS.

Now if your son is playing on a 17U and he is still not going to WWBA 17U and 17U BCS then why did you join this team?

David I suggest you find a team that you son can play in the 17U events because most organization with good reputation do not bring in extra players just for two events.

Good luck my friend
Johnny
My son is on a 17U team. I don't know if they got closed out of the 17U tournaments or just thought it easier to have their 17U & 18U team up there at the same time.

He chose this team because he played with their organization last year and had a great experience. Also, they are a well known team and do draw scouts because of their name.

I know most teams do not pick up extra players for these events. Just wanted to start to get the info out there in case comes the 17U event maybe for whatever reason they do need a fill in. Or maybe some team does want to plan on taking an extra utility player who can play any position.

let me ask you this how many 17U teams does that organization have in their program? if they have multiple 17U teams and only one team goes to 17U east cobb then i have to tell you they are sending their top team and if the other teams arent going then the other teams are just a money maker for that organization. It really hard to attend the 17U but I do know of some teams that work hard to get their teams in and begin working early now PG is very tough but if your organization draws a lot of scouts then they are good enough to have two teams in the 17U.

what good is it for you playing for an organization that draws a lot of scouts if your son is not playing in the heavly scouted events that bring the scouts??

i have lived in ga and north carolina and although it helps to play for a big organization let me tell you in ga both of my sons didn't play for east cobb program they played for another program that eventyone said they don't win but let me tell you 75% of their players went on to play college and that organization had plenty of scouts coming.

it's not about the name its about the relationship that your organization has with the colleges. if your coach doesnt have a connection or a relationship then yeah they must bring in top players but you can ask around and ask the veteran PG guys on this forum.

i would also like to leave you with one last comment that a coach from georgia tech told me last summer (we don't care about the score of the game or who wins or who is ranked if there is talent we will go and watch, its up to the coach to call us if they don't have a big organization and if their recommendations work out we will trust them in the future)

Best of luck
