For the second time in three years, UVA has had a 1B/LHP chosen as ACC player of the year. This time it's Sean Doolittle.

This program is skyrocketing. It's great to have a destination our HS players can aspire to, in state and with a great educational opportunity to go with it.

Q for you scouts: Does Doolittle project as a pitcher, or position player/hitter, when it comes time to turn pro?

Seems like he's a darned good hitter and still not filled out completely so may yet add power. But how many LHP's throw like he does? I'm thinking he would be taken as a pitcher, but I'll defer to the pros on this one.

Doc is a freak. His numbers are better or easily comparable to Andrew Miller's(UNC). He will also be on Team USA this year again. I am not a scout but he looks better as a pitcher. Power isn't a part of his game, atleast yet. UVA only had maybe 8 bombs at home this year, while visitors only had 4 or so. I'm sure he has the power to hit it out, but Davenport Field isn't helping those numbers.
Maybe if they'd move in RF, like they did LF?

And why does the batter's eye in CF has to be part of the fence? An inner fence would help. Having to hit it 408' and 40' high is ridiculous. I wonder sometimes if that scares off slugger recruits ... but then, nothing seems to be hindering their recruiting these days!

Doolittle will hit more HR's every year he stays. Unfortunately, I would bet that's only one more year.
