I got a great phone call this morning from a very excited Dean Ali of Indian River High. He informed me that, after speaking with Coach Meyers and Goulet this morning, he has committed to Old Dominion University where he will join fellow Southeastern District standout Cody Cox as freshmen in 2011.

Dean is a true first class, humble, hard working student-athlete (4-plus GPA) who has has busted his butt on the field and in the classroom to earn the right to call himself a D1 baseball player.

Just wanted to come on here and send out another Congratulations to Dean and his parents (I know you read this and want you to know you guys deserve a ton of credit!)... I know that you are very proud.

It's great to see when great young men experience the feeling of accomplishing the goals they have worked so hard to achieve... it's the reason coaches get into the game.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. ~ Aristotle

HEY,HEY,HEY that is awesome. I am so happy for Dean. I can't wait to tell Cody, wait a minute his Mom just texted him and he said YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Brian I know you have to be a very proud Dad. I will expect them boys to be roommates at Whitehurst Hall in the Fall. Great job by ODU to land Dean things are lookin up.
Coach Bowels: Thank you and know you are a BIG reason he's going!!

DCheat: Thanks and we'll be in touch (who brings the fridge, who brings the micorwave, etc)

Redbird: thank you...appreciate it.

Saipanwarrior: Coach gave us the OK with stipulations...;-)

grasscutter: thank you and yes as a pitcher

MiloDad: Hopefully we'll see you in May/June timeframe.
You are absolutely correct, Grasscutter, a pitcher could not make a better choice.
Congrats to both young men and I will see you both next year.
You both need to be ready to contribute ASAP!

Maybe Mr. Ali can convince the warrior and grasscutter to actually attend some games!

If not, you will always see Mrs. Metheny at most of the games.

Great job Jerry Meyers and Nate!

Hey, this is a forum? I did not question it. I think its great that he has committed to ODU, but why not ask that question? We are here to educate each other. I hope ODU signs all players from this area, which Ali is top of the list, so is Bowman, Cook, Kane, costen Campbell, Younce, etc, just trying to figure out what committed means. Some of the best pitchers at ODU committed without money but roster spots, and they are successful. This is suppose to be a place to learn and educate. Your right, it doesnt matter, but maybe help those who dont understand committed, aka, 2011, 2012 kids.
