BTW, does anyone know how to minimize the spacing?  When I hit the "enter" button to go to the next line, it pretty much skips a whole line, which is why the post takes up so much space?!?!?  It now looks like I intentionally skipped a line in between every scheduled game?!?!?!  Any help would be appreciated!

Try creating the post in Notepad first, then copy/paste.

Well in first round the usual suspects get work done.  OS looks like it might continue it's upward path charted over the past couple of seasons as they seemed to play NR even after a shakey 1st inning Wed.

But the two games with WB/GB and GF/Hick. will give some idea of what is there.  The upside is that a loss doesn't hurt anyone in their conference so they can get a good feel for what they've really got without much on the line.

WB scored first in the bottom of the second inning.  Trent Jones walked to lead off the inning, advanced to second and third on wild pitches and (if my notes are correct) scored on a perfectly executed bunt by Everett.

GB answered in the next frame. Elder singled, advanced on a past ball or wild pitch and scored on Ziemki's two out single to left.

The big blow came in the fourth.  Three Bruins reached on a single, an infield error and a hit batter.  Brett Cassidy hit an opposite field double down the left field line clearing the bases and giving the Bruins a 4-1 lead.  The  Bruins added another run, making the score 5-1.

Although each team had at least four errors, the Bruins turned inning ending double plays (6-4-3) in the second and seventh innings.

I had one earned run, the winning run in the bottom of the eight.   Earned or unearned, all runs count.

Grassfield scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first, and Western Branch answered with an unearned run in the top of the second on a rbi single to left by Brett Cassidy.

In the bottom of the eighth, Grassfield's top of the order singled, walked and singled to win 2-1.

The real story was the pitching.  Klak had two clean innings, and Stallings had five clean innings.

Klak, 7 INN, ER, 7 H, 6 K and 2 BB. Stallings, 8 INN, 5 H, 9 K and BB.

I think the WB vs Grassfield game went as expected.  Pitchers duel into extra innings.  Klak simply ran out of gas.  He threw 107 pitches in a game in March.....a bit much early in the year but that's what was needed tonight to keep it close.

Both pitchers matched each other inning to inning basically.  Stallings threw a lot of early strikes and mixed his speeds well.  It came down to who had more in the tank at the end, give the nod to Stallings.   Round 2 in May, will be fun.  Grassfield has the 1-2 punch that is pretty powerful.
