As a few of you know, I have been undergoing rigorous training to obtain ICF certification as a Life Coach. I'm in the thick of this training with ICA, one of the most respected coach training institutions in the world.
One of my niche areas is in working with student-athletes (specifically ballplayers) and post-academic ballplayers facing transition. As part of my training, I would like to work with one such athlete absolutely free of charge. This would entail a 30-45 minute telephone session (my dime) once a week, for 12 weeks, with additional e-mail support as needed.
What would our conversations 'look' like?
A coach is a facilitator, co-strategist, and motivator all in one. This is not therapy, counseling, or mentoring. My job is to work with the student-athlete or post-academic athlete on issues of self-motivation, goal-setting, and on making and keeping commitments which will clear the path ahead.
People who are coached get where they want to be faster, and with greater confidence, clarity, and sense of ownership and purpose.
Many young people lack the self-discipline required to turn dreams into committed, goal-driven reality. That's where I come in.
If this sounds like you, or someone you know, give it a thought. I prefer to work only with HS juniors and seniors, or those post-HS ballplayers facing transition (getting to the next level or even if considering hangin' 'em up and moving on).
