You talking like a Senior day where you recognize them with the parents?
If that's what you're talking about then here is what I used to do - get them personalized wood bats from Louisville Slugger. It had their name, year graduated and position I believe. It was something like $50 per bat.
Not sure of the cost for you but we were pretty luck because my school was only about an hour away from the Louisville Slugger museum in Louisville. We saved a lot of money by driving up and getting them rather than mailing them.
Guys and parents both loved them because it was different than a plaque. IT was something that could be kept on an office or even dorm wall.
Coach 2709, That's a great idea! It's a little late for us to do that since our final game is in 2 days. But it's a great idea.
My dad did something similar for my son a few years ago. Dad asked me to get a copy of son's signature. He then visited the LS bat factory and ordered a bat with son's autograph engraved on it.
When dad gave the bat to his grandson, the first word out of my son's mouth (after "Thank you, Gran")was that he wanted to have his senior picture made with the bat. I thought he would forget all about it in the following 3+ years. Fast forward to this year and time to get senior pictures. The only request my son made was that I be sure to bring his bat to the photo shoot. I did and now that picture hangs proudly along side other family pictures on our wall. The photographer was careful to position the bat so that the autograph is visible in the picture. Everytime my dad visits my home I find him gazing at that picture. I wouldn't take anything for it.
Take them to an mlb game. My coach in highschool did that for us and we had so much fun. We were in the cheap seats too but it was an unforgetable experience. You may be suprised at how many of your kids haven't been to an mlb game.
My son's coaches got pictures of all the seniors playing and had them enlarged and framed 18 by 24. Every player on the team signed on the white boarder of the inside frame. Great keepsake for the players.
