What is the significance of September 1st for rising Juniors?

For the benefit of everyone,
September 1 is the first day colleges are allowed to contact Juniors with more personalized correspondence. This means they can send you personalized notes, more in depth info about their programs, etc. Up to this point, you have probably received only questionaires and camp brochures.
Please note they are NOT allowed to call you at this time. I know of several families that were under the impression coaches would begin to call them on Sept. 1 of Jr year. The phone calls have to wait until July 1 between your Jr and Sr years.
Just remember, YOU can still call them! Due to NCAA regs they can't call you back until July 1. Hopefully if you make a call, you'll catch them live then they are allowed to talk to you. Make use of email, they can respond to email.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, my son has received questionaires and camp invites.
I wonder sometimes if they mean interest, or mean they are interested in making money.
So after September 1st, I guess it should be easier to gauge interest.
