Bob wants this to be an education and information site for parents and players. I hope we can focus on this goal in the future.

We have had alot of nice people who made major input on this board, go there own way after their sons graduated high school or college or went to the minor leagues. They have found other things to fill there time. Sometimes some of us just get busy and pop in and out for a few weeks and don't notice things we should.

Some of the other old websters like Fungo, TRhit, Hiwassee Vol, OPP, BeenthereIL and others continue to shed light for people who are seeking answers to their questions since they have been there and done that.

If someone makes you mad, take a break and think about your response! There are some people who get a kick out of ruffling other peoples feathers. Sometimes its hard and sometimes you can't resist a response.

I am not trying to be a tuff guy even though it looks like it! Just trying to keep the peace and focus in the right direction even though it was late coming this time.

PS: If you get into an argument look at the user profile! If its a lawyer or agent your not going to get in the last word!

Also, We have kids on this site and they are what this is all about.

Thanks. This site has been so helpful to us. We were getting concerned however with the direction it was taking lately...with threads not at all appropriate to a site dedicated to helping kids and parents navigate through high school baseball.

p.s. I am proud to state that I never even VIEWED the "election" thread. If you are SERIOUS about what can be found on this site about baseball, threads of that sort are pretty much a waste of time, and I am already doing too much of that!

I had to close down two threads last week and over all the years that I have been around, "that was my first two". Maybe it will be another 6 or 8 years before it happens again.

Hopefully as high school baseball workouts roll around most schools at the end of football season, then it will return to normal. If not at least follow TennDad's post above.

Thanks Tenndad for reminding all of us about the rules. It has to be that way. We have to follow them or we will destroy the HSBBW and the best source for information available to the high school player. HSBBW is a self governing entity in that each person is responsibility for the content of the HSBBW… they assume that responsibility when they push the “post reply” button. I noticed a poster the other day apologize for being insensitive about the death of a solider. That apology was refreshing. I know I’ve posted things in the past and have had second thoughts, went back and deleted my own post because they were not in the best interest of the HSBBW. Paul Harvey speaks frequently on people and how people should govern themselves (self government). I’ll paraphrase what he says: “If we cannot count on ourselves to do the right thing, how can we count on anyone or anything else? Self-government won't work without self-discipline.”

Having participated in the recent "political" debate, I wanted to apologize for having lost sight of ANY potential negative affect that thread may have had on this site.

This site is truly the most valuable I have found in assisting players and their parents find information to pursue their baseball (and education) dreams; and, again, my apologies for having lost sight of that purpose.

You hit the nail on the head that we are all guests here. As such, IMO, we have the privilege to post, not the right. I appreciate now that you were doing what you felt best for the site and I absolutely respect that. I guess before I was a little swept away in the heat of the moment.

I would also add that I feel I owe a great deal to this site and its board members and have gained an amazing amount of information that was used to help my son find his spot in the college baseball world and am very thankful for that. I would not want to participate in anything that is detrimental to this site and the efforts of all the good folks involved.

Thank you. I'm one member who is very glad to have the board get back to the subject of baseball! We all seem to find enough to agree and disagree about on this topic alone anyway!

I locked the thread about the former Duke player being killed in Iraq because I didn't like the direction some of the comments were insensitive. If you would read it, I would hope you would see my side.

There is a lot more leeway in the "Unusually Unusual" forum, but most who post there seem to enjoy some humor, but not humor at someones expense.

I think TennDad, and others here have tried to explain things very well. Don't read more into it. I've enjoyed many of your thoughts and opinions for some time and would just ask that you step back and chill some.

The true root of the problem is that it's getting cold outside and it's several months until baseball season starts and that's when people get testy

I've been guilty myself, but we do need to remember the purpose of this site. Baseball.

This site has educated our family through the process and helped tremendously.

I would hate to see others who needed help and information getting scared off, but then again as baseball parents we've pretty much seen it all
